When is the best time to buy a New car and still have options?

I want to buy a new car but I still want to be able to have options when buying it like color and so on. When is the best time (year, month etc.) to go buy my car and benefit the most financially?

  1. late summer/early fall. the new model years come out shortly after and the dealers need to get rid of inventory.
  2. The time to buy a car is when you are in the best financial position to make a good deal.
  3. The best time is right after the new models come out (fall). If you don't wait too long, you'll still have your pick of leftovers on most models, and you'll get a great deal.
  4. You can get a good car deal anytime if you do your research. Dealerships need to sell cars..especially with the economy the way it is now. Start shopping in the middle of the month..that will give you plenty of time to decide. When the end of the month gets closer dealers are generally willing to come down in price so they can meet their monthly quotas.
