What stocks should I buy on the NYSE/NASDAQ? Any recommendations? Why should I buy them? Give reasons.?
I'm an active trader and I'm looking for company stocks to buy on the NYSE/NASDAQ. However many different people have been giving me conflicting advice and it is quite frustrating. Someone said I should buy 'blue chip' stocks like Microsoft, Rio Tinto and Coca-Cola since they are more established and are huge firms so they have lots of resources and potential to grow further. Others said that it is best to invest mainly in China and emerging markets like Mexico and Brazil. Yet another said that it is best to invest in manufacturing/mining companies since they have the highest growth since these two sectors are growing very fast in developing countries worldwide. I'm very lost. Is there anyone out there who knows what stocks I should buy?

- You should be buying 2 industries right now... if you are a longer term investor. 1st, nanotechnology- TINY is a good one.. or try to find a nanotech company composite... but nanotech will be HUGE money in a few years. 2nd, dry bulk shipping. with China as an emerging power, china, Diana (DSX) and Genco Shipping & Trading (GNK) . Also biotech stocks. Biogen Idec is poised to be bought out, so buy BIIB, and also GENZ is a great stock to buy. I work for Acusphere, a small market cap biotech company, ACUS... buy some stock in us, we have no products on the market yet, thus the stock is cheap... however we are poised to launch a new drug in 2008, read up on us.
- If you are an "active" trader, then find a list of good fundamental companies, and trade them according to technical charts. I'm in no position to give you a watchlist, because I don't know what stocks interest you, your objectives, your risk tolerance, etc. etc. etc. I would recommend learning how to use options to leverage your investing dollars while lowering the risk, and there are some strategies that really complement long-term stock ownership. A great book on finding good fundamental stocks is "Rule Number 1" by Phil Town. It is a great book, and far less expensive than the website he touts.
