Consumers Digest

If your good at science... Please help!?

Energy can be neither created or destroyed. Every organism needs energy to perform life processes. How does the energy stored in a consumer get released back into the environment? This is the question I have to answer for my 7th grade science review and I am stuck. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with animals eating and digesting but... thats all I know, if that's even right, so please, help me with this question.

  1. they digest it and shit it out
  2. They digest it and crap it out.
  3. It is lost in many ways, mainly respiration. Feel your arm. It's warm, isn't it? Humans produce 0.5Kw of heat energy per hour. The food that you take in is digested, the energy released is converted into movement energy, growth of tissue, and also warming your body to 37C. Also, when an organism dies, the energy that was stored as living tissue is released back into the environment, as other animals consume.
  4. you should check out the different type of forms that energy can have. "Energy can be neither created or destroyed, but converted from one form to another" is the whole law. this will take the mystery away
