  1. free weights work you out the best but it is alot easier to get hurt.
  2. the very best is your two feet and the side walk or if you are in a rural area the highway. All that stuff on TV is a rip off so ignore the TV comericals.
  3. I guess if you have plenty of money then stick with a high-quality treadmill. But if short on cash be your own piece of equipment. There's plenty of activities you can do with your body weight such as walking, running and body weight exercises. Also if your on the mechanically inclined side you can make your own bench and maybe squat rack with pull up and dip station. Then for weights you can use old tires, milk jugs, rocks/stones, etc. Your imagination limits your possibilities. Good luck!
  4. Well i think that the best type of exercise equipment would have to be good old fashion free wights I have all ways used free wights and found myself getting a better work out then using a machine. But the only draw back is that you need a lot of room. I am happy with only one work out machine and that is the Bow-flex. But i only used the Bow-flex about 4 times at my brothers house. But as I said before free wights will always be the best.
  5. The best exercise equipment is whatever you will use on a regular basis. Some people may get bored with freeweights and lose motivation. Some may get bored with a treadmill. But if you can find equipment (or a combination of equipment) that keeps you motivated, then that is the best. For my setup, I have a Bowflex, freeweights, exercise tower, treadmill, and a swiss ball. I use them all on a regular basis, and get a good variety so I don't get bored. When I start getting bored, I change my routine and it keeps me going.
