Anyone recall a TV documentary/show/special report about starting from scratch in america?

This show I saw once was about a guy who starts in some random town and builds a life - he stays at a homeless shelter at first, then finds work, gets his own rented room somewhere, blah..blah..blah He is like an investigative reporter. I want to see it again and show the video to someone, but I can't remember who, what, when ,where? - any ideas? sound familiar?
