Is CNN or MSNBC going to do a special report on who is a fault with the economic meltdown?

If so, when is it and if not, then why not. Fox is doing a special on it and I plain to watch it. I think it is extremely important to know so that we can make an informed decision on who to pick for president. I would like to see at least CNN do a special so that we could compare Fox with CNN and get the true facts on this matter.

Public Comments

  1. CNN and MSNBC would have to be critical of Democrats and the Community Reinvestment Act and that will never happen. What is more revealing is how we just spent $700 billion and no congressional Democrats are calling for hearings into the matter....
  2. As far as I know, I think MSNBC is. I hope they discuss that our economy has significantly dropped since 2006 when the Democrats took over Congress. But knowing them, they will say "The last 8 years....blah blah blah."
  3. No media can be trusted to present any facts.
  4. CNN has already done so, though not the hit piece you will see on fox. Why don't you just look it up?? Both parties are at fault. Both parties failed to stop deregulation, though the Republican party pushed strongly for deregulation. Everyone is at fault, though as far as candidates go, there is NO ONE more at fault than John McCain.
  5. You have to check out CNN 360 it's got a bit going on called "Top Ten Most Wanted" for wall street that is. It's very exciting, they already have one player, Lehman brothers. This is where you will see some heads roll, because there is nothing worse than a hungry reporter with a question that needs an answer. They are nosy and good at rooting out the full story.
  6. So far CNN is blaming the CEO's of AIG, Lehman, etc. FOX is tending towards blaming the government. Between the two, we might get a better picture of what really happened. Then again, we may never really know. I just checked my 401K and as of 9/30 have lost 28%. That doesn't even take into account the worst week in the history of the existance of the stock exchange. I am at a loss as to what to do. Take it out. Leave it. I'm 61. This is very devastating.
  7. Given the cause of the meltdown, it's too much to ask for CNN or MSNBC to put it on the air. I do love how the calls for a special prosecutor are getting louder and louder. Somebody(s) needs to go to jail for this for a very long time. Independent
  8. I saw a report on it last night on CNN ... actually, they were talking more about the economic crisis than the presidential race, so you haven't been paying attention. It you want media coverage that is unbiased, perhaps you should try watching CSPAN or PBS. Both of those sources are better at presenting both sides.
  9. I'll save you some time. Fox is going to blame the democrats even though republicans controlled congress. Nothing has been passed by congress that the republicans didn't want passed for the past fourteen years, not counting the last two. Draw your own conclusions.
  10. I don't know. You're best bet is to watch PBS. Several of the reguar news programs are doing extensive coverage and analysis--and bringing people from both Republicans and democrats. That being said, I'm a social scientist/historian--and I do know. The Republicans better hope that no one does a really good special before the election. Because, while usually economic problems are partly both sides fault, in this case you are going to find that its about 95% the fault of the neoconservatives/Bush administration. In a nutshell, if they had not stripped the SEC and other federal agencies of the power to regulate and exercise oversight of the financial sector, this would not have hapened. It's really just that simple--seriously. The biggest "fault" on the Democratic side is twofold. I1) n the late 1990s Bill Clinton didn't stand up to the GOP Congress when they started taking away the federal regulators powers. 2) There are a few Democratic Senators and Representatives in Congress (I'd say about 20%) who have gone along with the GOP a lot o fhe time on this. Obama is definately not one of them--his voting record shows he's opposed the whole thing from the getgo. McCain, on the other hand, has voted for cutting regulatory authority and restraints. Not always--he'snot as bad as most of the GOP--but more often than not.
  11. I am sure there will be many special reports about the whole mess, and those reports will undoubtedly be slanted to one side or the other. IMO, the whole meltdown can be laid at the feet of everyone. No one person, party, or philosophy is completely guilt free. We need to curb the greed on Wall St., start living within our means, stop predatory lending, and regulate everything! If there are no rules then anarchy and predation enter the money game. Greed can never be completely satisfied, so it has to be controlled. Deregulation has always been a bad idea, and it is no different now.
  12. You won't get a news story out of MSNBC or CNN. That would be exposing Liberals and since MSNBC and CNN are Liberal it ain't gonna happen. All of this mess lies squarely at the feet of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. All Liberal Democrats. It was President Bush and John McCain who saw big problems and tried to get them fixed but were thwarted by Frank and Dodd. And now Frank and Dodd are telling us that they can fix the current crisis when they were the ones who started it! Does anyone but me see a problem with this? The same two morons are blaming Bush for the problem due to a lack of oversight. Hello!?!? Bush and McCain TRIED to get some oversight but you blocked it you idiot!! Of course now the blame is being put on Bush and McCain who had nothing to do with the financial mess. If you don't believe me then research it yourself. But I know that I will get thumbs down. And those thumbs down are from the people who are either too lazy to look this crap up themselves and/or refuse to face reality. When you blame the wrong person you learn the wrong lesson. No pardon me while I go beat my head against a wall. Ugh....!
