Can you get a tax credit on Energy Efficient major appliances? We recently remodeled our home using all energy efficient appliances....washer/dryer, frig., range, dishwasher, etc: I thought I would be able to get a tax credit when filing our income tax BUT I don't find anything in the 1040 instructions on where to take the credit! I found a place for heating/cooling, roofing, but nothing for inside the home! Does anyone have any info on this? Thank you!

She said that is was not likly a TV or light bubles but a major electric appliance. We have a gas heater, gas water heater and stove. We have not added any new appliances. Replacing major kitchen appliances - need opinions? We are replacing the following: 42in built-in refridgerator 27in double wall oven 36in cooktop built-in dishwasher built-in microwave We want all stainless steel and like the idea of going with one brand for conforming look. Looking for recommendations on brand..... We feel wolf, viking, thermador are overkill for us so looking at kitchenaid which we are told is the high end of the low end.
Question about dusting major appliances like tv's and that.? We live in an attic apartment. Needless to say its always warm and very dry. We have to keep humidifiers going pretty much 24/7. But we get this thick white dust on our computer, tv, and basically anything else in the room. Is there any way of preventing this or making it easier to clean? Serious replies only please.
Best Major Appliances ? Can someone steer me through the web of brand wars and tell me the best company for major appliances. We are thinking of going towards Kenmore or Whirlpool for a whole Kitchen and Laundry full. Trying to keep the Energy star throughout. Thanks for your time.
Does unplugging appliances when going away really save energy? I have heard that you can save on your energy bill by unplugging such things as computers, TV's, & major appliances (no, not fridge or freezer!) if you are going to be away from home for awhile. Does anyone know if this is true, what kind of savings are we talking here? Also, would really like links to any sites that discuss such things. (Please don't just tell me to Google it, I know that much already.) Thanks!
bought a major appliance that you don't like? Are you stuck with a major appliance that you don't like after you have got it? My new refrigerator is black, but now my kitchen is so dark, I wish I had gotten stainless steel, darn the luck!
Do you think 5k for kitchen appliances is a lot? I'm in need of new kitchen appliances and I have a 5k budget, I found all the appliances I want. They're stainless steel and the brand is KitchenAid, and it's the 4 major appliances - stove, dishwasher, microwave (the ones that go over the stove) and a fridge. Well altogether it's around 4,600 but plus tax I'm sure it'd be close to 5k. Think that's too much?
major appliances for minor $? Okay, so we are buying a new house. The one we are hoping for is completely "applianceless". We have a lot of stuff to do to the house so we don't want to spend all our cash on appliances. Got a good source for good stuff cheaper than going to Home Depot (or similar retail store)? I don't mind used stuff if it's in good condition. There is a scratch and dent place nearby, but I've never found very good deals there. We are in DFW TX area.
Best major kitchen appliances? So many different brand names but what are the best yet reasonably priced ones in your opinion? Fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and washer/dryer.
What is the best brand of major kitchen appliances from Lowe's? I want to update my kitchen with new appliances and I want to get all the same name brand for each one. All my appliances are electric and the frig will be a side by side and a smooth surface for the stove. I have a microwave over the stove as well as a dishwasher, so I would prefer them to be the same name brand. Please let me know which brand is the best for all these.
Voltage Converters (for all major appliances)? Hello, I just found this exciting Answer community. I have searched for an answer to my above question for days... I am moving to Europe in 3 days. My family need voltage converters, since the outlet plugs needed in Europe are different than those in the US. Basically, I "know" Europe uses the 110/220 V things...however, I want to make sure Germany AND Serbia-Montenegro does, too. Is their a reference for proof, too? I need to make sure I'm 100% right because we need a LOT of them... Thank you!
After 5 years, is it worth it to puchase a service warranty on major appliances? I have had a service warranty policy on my washer, dryer, stove for the past 5 years. While it gets a little more expensive each year to renewal, this is the first time the renewal fee had dramatically doubled as opposed to just a few dollars increase from the previous year (it will cost about $100 to warranty each appliance for one year). Does anyone know if an appliance is worth paying for the warranty after 5 years, or would it make more sense just to go without one and get a new appliance when and if it does break? I appreciate any suggestions.
Does anyone know of a good major appliance repair service in the Austin, Tx area???? I have a dryer, that is fairly new, that I believe has a short in the ground wire. I tried using ABA Appliance Service, and had the WORST experience of my life. I made an appointment over 24 hours prior to the time they were to come to my house. I work 2 jobs, and it's very difficult for me to make arrangements to have someone at my house during the allotted time. Well, after making arrangements, and having my appointment set, all I could do was wait. Well, the evening before the day of my appt, a lady called from ABA and said that b/c there was only one technician in my area, it would be later in the evening that someone could be there. I said that was fine, and actually worked better for me. Well, low and behold, day of my appt, NO ONE showed up, NO CALLS, NOTHING! I highly, highly recommend that no one use ABA Appliance Service if you're looking for GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, and someone you can rely on!
In 2004, my dad ordered a major appliance at Sears. It wasnt what he ordered when it came? I went with him during the initial purchase and the slick talking salesman at Sears sold him a stove and told him it would be exactly the same thing but in the color black. Well, dad was a little confused, and I figured I would just let him order whatever he wanted to keep his dignity and he purchased the stove with his Sears card. I was at work when the product arrived and was installed, and was appalled because it was not what he ordered. The salesman sent a black stove, but not what he ordered. Even dad knew it was not what he ordered. I called Sears to tell them and they told me the signatures and the order number were the same. I think the slick salesman was trying to sell something to an old man and got over on him. Dad landed in a nursing home. No one had POA, and no one was sure of where his money went or came. The stove didnt get paid for. Now sears wants someone to pay for it. I paid the money to bury dad. Do I pay for the stove or drop it. Is it my responsiblity?
