Best Buy Nasdaq Knowledge Base
Whats the best way to buy stocks and things? Perferrably NASDAQ ones. Do you have to go through your bank, or can you do it nline, or neither? I dont know much about stocks, but want to get involved a little, so whats the best way to learn about them? Is it as complicated as it seems? Any help would be great, as you can tell, I dont know much about the topic. Thanks.
What are the best stocks to "buy" right now? I have a school project. I need to "buy" some stocks and record the price every week. Goal: "make money" by the end of the school year. Preferably stocks from the DOW or NASDAQ category. I am planning to look at what survived the recession- like gold.
What stocks should I buy on the NYSE/NASDAQ? Any recommendations? Why should I buy them? Give reasons.? I'm an active trader and I'm looking for company stocks to buy on the NYSE/NASDAQ. However many different people have been giving me conflicting advice and it is quite frustrating. Someone said I should buy 'blue chip' stocks like Microsoft, Rio Tinto and Coca-Cola since they are more established and are huge firms so they have lots of resources and potential to grow further. Others said that it is best to invest mainly in China and emerging markets like Mexico and Brazil. Yet another said that it is best to invest in manufacturing/mining companies since they have the highest growth since these two sectors are growing very fast in developing countries worldwide. I'm very lost. Is there anyone out there who knows what stocks I should buy?
If you suspect the Dow will drop 20% by the end of the year, if not sooner, how best to play it? Despite the housing, gas, and food problems, the Dow seems unfazed. If you expected the Dow to hit the 11k plateau by the end of the year, how would a "capitalist pig" like me make that bet most profitably? I know on the NASDAQ, there is something call Spiders (SPDR), that you can buy/sell that tracks the index on the whole. Is there an equivalent for the Dow? Is so, would that be the best way to try and make some money on your expectation?
I want to start investing on stocks or bonds. which is the best? I am 23 yrs old and i want to start investing some of my money. i do not know anything about the NASDAQ or ameritrade or any other place where ppl buy and sell stocks or bonds. i want to start investing but i have no clue where to start or what website is best for me to beggin trading on. i dont have a lot of money to invest but id rather put it to good use vs me jus wasting it. any info would be appreciated thankx
If you are holding a stock when do you get out? I am beginning to think that you should buy stocks that pay high dividends. I am taking GE for instance, look at the 10 year chart, basically flat. I am beginning to think about QQQQ and SFINX both holds all of the component securities of the Nasdaq-100 Index (the Index). But even then look how the Nasdaq has hovered on the 2000 mark for how many years now. What is the best way?
Investing in the STOCK Market - Nasdaq, DOW, OTC, Pink & more question...? Theoretical Question... IF you could know the best possible stock to buy, for an over night only purchase, which market would be the most beneficial to be a part of. I have considered all, and find the OTC the most risky...with the highest gains. And If I knew what the best mathematical stock to purchase every day would be...I think I'd go with that market, As I see it as less-risky as well (since the funding is lower), and liquidity, mind you, is a part of that calculation (so you know the percentage of opportunity getting rid and getting stuck with a stock).... Also... Most Bull trends tend to be in which market? Bull trends that would double your money that is... Thanks in advance!
Investing in NASDAQ or others? i started investing in a few companies with stocks..and most of the shares run like $7 to $90.. but profit wise so far looks like $2 or maybe even $8...the biggest gain was like $36...now, since price per share are so low, whats the best strategy to make profit? as in, am i going to have to buy more shares? or should i just invest in 2 or 3 shares with Nasdaq and get bigger profits out of it?? like i said, im just trying to figure this out..thanks! :) SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE!
Can you help explain how individual stock prices change daily? I know buying and selling changes the price, but how does it change daily? Also, those day traders on the floor at the new your stock exchange, what are they all doing, running around the floor? How does buying and selling give us the 3 indexes (Dow , S&P, and Nasdaq) ? Please advise, as I am new to the market. Thank you, will choose best answer. Thank you!! that was so helpful! you're the best!
Day Trading Investing Stocks I Need Two Or Three Proven Strategies? Hi I have been Daytrading the Nasdaq, Amex, Nyse, BB and PK stocks using Etrades level 2 software. I have had success trading news stories, earnings Good/bad, Share Buybacks, gaps up and down, buyouts and FDA news approvals and non approved. I have read dozens of books and been on courses regarding day Trading but the best trades I have made I have figured out myself. I Am Looking for more specific Individual ideas that others may have found successful. For instance I watch the news feeds all day looking for key words in news that will trigger a price move or I'll spot a loser and follow it for 2-3 days till it's almost dead and then buy it as it bounces back, another good one is following the top 10 risers of the day till 10.10 am and then buy one that carries on it's rise. So anybody got any Good Individual ideas I will appreciate it.
uhm.. So How can I make a Profit from the Collpasing Dollar, Collpasing Econemy?? so...... They are going to cut interest Rates Tomorrow, from 3%, to maybe 2.5 or even down to 2% 1. When would the best time be to buy a house on lease, like a 30-year mortgage, Should I wait? When Until When? Wait until it goes to 2%? Under 2%? How low will it go? 2. Because of the rate cut tomorrow, im expecting a rally on the market or flat trading until mid term elections of 2008. So I am Waiting to buy QID Stock, When is Shorting the Nasdaq 100, or betting the market will go down. http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=qid Its at $55 a share, I wont buy Over $45 a share, and if i get in under $45, i can 5times my money on a crash, but what if the econemy does a total collpase, will the money be worthless?? What if it is a few steps from collpasing, can i still cash out? Or will i get nothing, b/c the money is worthless? This I dont know. I believe they will collpase the dollar to nothing so it can be replaced by the amero in 2-3 years or so. Any other ideas?

Why do they do these things? What can a 70-year old man do with 50 billion dollars anyway? ... he could never spend it all. And five or even 10 billion would be a comfortable amount to leave to his heirs. Is it that the money doesn't matter as much as being able to get away with it? Is it that they think money will buy them women, jewels, mansions, yachts, etc.? Or do these kind of people just get a real kick out of defrauding others? NEW YORK (Reuters) Bernard Madoff, a quiet force on Wall Street for decades, was arrested and charged on Thursday with allegedly running a $50 billion "Ponzi scheme" in what may rank among the biggest fraud cases ever. The former chairman of the Nasdaq Stock Market is best known as the founder of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, the closely-held market-making firm he launched in 1960. But he also ran a hedge fund that U.S. prosecutors said racked up $50 billion of fraudulent losses. Madoff told senior employees of his firm on Wednesday that "it's all just one big lie" and that it was "basically, a giant Ponzi scheme," with estimated investor losses of about $50 billion, according to the U.S. Attorney's criminal complaint against him. A Ponzi scheme is a swindle offering unusually high returns, with early investors paid off with money from later investors. On Thursday, two agents for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation entered Madoff's New York apartment. "There is no innocent explanation," Madoff said, according to the criminal complaint. He told the agents that it was all his fault, and that he "paid investors with money that wasn't there," according to the complaint. The $50 billion allegedly lost would make the hedge fund one of the biggest frauds in history. When former energy trading giant Enron filed for bankruptcy in 2001, one of the largest at the time, it had $63.4 billion in assets. U.S. prosecutors charged Madoff, 70, with a single count of securities fraud. They said he faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $5 million. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ and yes I realize that he has to be proven guilty, but he probably is, so I chose to ask these questions. stop trying to mislead me. The fact is that he had "control" over these investments. With overall 'control' the money was his to invest or re-invest as he saw fit.The man is a fraud.

Which lawyer do I use to get money back from crooked stock broker? recieved a call a couple of months ago, May 5, from someone at BasicInvestors in New York telling me to buy a stock call Agfeed, cymbol FEED. They told me it would double in two months because it is the biggest company in China. The stock has lost half it value. The broker insists that I buy more on margin to 'double down' then the stock went down again and I got a margin call and was told I had to sell some shares. I did that and I recieved another call telling me I had to sell more share, which I did. Then I got a letter that said the clearing house had sold me out. I was basicaly charged three times commission to sell shares that I was talked into buying. I have lost half my money and this broker keeps telling me to buy more. A lot of people say just do nothing its just another recession ,want to know why its necessary and urgent? Iam a stock trader and penny trader . first, this is their biggest worried the Dow and the NASDAQ it is now at a critical low or called support the same as 911.just bounce around think pingpong ball.that good. if condition don't improve, we will drop below support ,then support turn into Resistance , that bad if you want to go up again. cause it will take many many years ,and try to break though on up .theory , many that waited wanted to get will get their chance again, sending the indexes down again.(support is where the traders wait to buy in) hate to give it to the banks ,who started this mess but the money is a loan, and banks a guarantee by the government, they have to pay ether way, but being dem or rep isn't going to matter if we break support.for we will all meet at to free food line ,talking about the good old days. if we break support its a look out below, baby boom forget retirement , and lost jobs will not rehire for many years. trade war? and a you know what. might be the thing. to start over. bad.. come together guys ,I not totals happy about this mess too. obama plans have to work.were in too deep .( we owl, t bills) its a case of the best of 2 evils http://www.marketwatch.com/tools/quotes/intchart.asp?symb=INDU&time=20&freq=1&comp=&compidx=aaaaa~0&compind=&uf=0&ma=&maval=&lf=1&lf2=&lf3=&type=2&size=1&txtstyle=&style=&submitted=true&intflavor=basic&origurl=%2Ftools%2Fquotes%2Fintchart.asp http://www.marketwatch.com/tools/quotes/intchart.asp?symb=NASDAQ&time=20&freq=1&comp=&compidx=aaaaa~0&compind=&uf=0&ma=&maval=&lf=1&lf2=&lf3=&type=2&size=1&txtstyle=&style=&submitted=true&intflavor=basic&origurl=%2Ftools%2Fquotes%2Fintchart.asp dont read investing book , foolish . trading yes, yes. full of corruption,oil....
Why isn't there a forex currency index? Just like the stocks are combined into NASDAQ for example, then why can't you combine the forex pairs and assign them a mathematical value??? Take a look here: http://www.fxstreet.com/rates-charts/currencies-glance/ Fxstreet lists 34 forex pairs. Benefits: - Less risk.More pairs - less risk. Traders will take advantage because the market is open day/night in contrast to the daily trades among the stock market. That said, the forex traders gain several times more action with reduced risk, thanks to the combination of many pairs at once. No surprises anymore:Think about it: The european bank annouces higher rates, but the expectations were for lower rates. So, if you trade EUR/USD you will lose when you have selled. With such important news you will lose perhaps over 50 pips and if you trade on 100:1 leverage buying more than 1 lot...say goodbye to your money. Even without leverage the big players will lose, unless they utilize some industrial espionage :) to predict the rates that are going to be anoounced. So...if the one pair goes higher with 50 pips, else will go downtrend with 50, which keeps the balance. Of course if the balance is perfect :) 50/50 the index won't move and you will not benefit at all :), but in case where you have 50/25 you get your 25 or less if your predictions are in the right direction. There is one drawback, of course, like anything in life :): With so many pairs it will be impossible to rely on any news announcements. Your only hope will be the candlestick chart, perhaps combined with some additional mathematical technics(martingales, random walk avoidance, compound interest) and economical such(hedging, options..). But isn't the technical data the favourite to the forex traders? So far, sadly there isn't a "forex index" to my knowledge??? So the best you can do is simply make your own "portfolio" and assign it a mathematical value. I plan to create a computer program(...a can do that ;), to calculate and trace such index value of about 40 forex pairs. If I succeed, I will post it here with link to website to see the index in action :). Thanks.

What happens to your investment when a stock gets delisted from NASDAQ? So what happens when you buy a stock and it gets delisted from NASDAQ like Spansion? I didn't buy it. Do you just lose your investment? When it gets delisted it is an OTC stock right? Also lets say you bought it when it 's an OTC and they go back up to were they were. Can they get put back into NASDAQ? What happens to your investment if that happens? Sorry SpanKy, but that's not what delisting means...
Can I tell who is buying and selling stock on nasdaq? When I see a big spike in volume on a chart, is there any way to tell if that was one big seller who threw a big order to lots of little fish as opposed to one big buyer who suddenly came in and grabbed holdings from dozens of little sellers? Are stock transactions hidden from public view or can I get that info in realtime or even a few days later? I want the info just to be able to consider volume to price ratios when looking at price fluctuations.
What are good stocks to buy that will peak in January? I'm doing a school project in which I have 3 months (around January) and $100,000USD to invest in stock. What are some stocks on the New York Stock Exchange (must be NYSE, not NASDAQ or others) that will be doing very well in January? We cannot sell, only buy and then wait to see how the stock is doing at the end of the semester. People with the most profit get the most points for the assignment... So please help me out! Thanks so much. :]
