Home Gym Fitness Equipment ideas...? Can you give me How to Start Exercise with Home Gym Equipment..
Invest £280 in a gym for 7 months or basic home exercise equipment? Hello! I am off to Uni after the summer and in the build up to that I wanted to get into a shape as I have not looked after my body as well as I used to. Currently just very skinny and left with little upper body muscle where I used to be very athletic etc after a few to many years hooked on computer games. The question is, should I invest £280 in a gym for 7 months where I will guidance etc however may only be able to attend 2-4 times a week. Or personal equipment such as weights which I can use whenever within the comfort of my own space but I may not push myself as hard at home? Equipment may also come in handy over Uni unless of course they offer free gym membership... If personal equipment, any particulars that would be advised? I was looking at things like: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0103536/c_1/1|category_root|Sports+and+leisure|14419152/c_2/3|15701400|Home+gym+equipment|14419293/c_3/4|cat_14419293|Other+gym+equipment|14419296/Trail/searchtext%3EGYM.htm http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0107642/c_1/1|category_root|Sports+and+leisure|14419152/c_2/3|15701400|Home+gym+equipment|14419293/c_3/4|cat_14419293|Fitness+accessories|14419308/Trail/searchtext%3EGYM.htm However I am very much clueless and any advice would be greatly appreciated!
fitness equipments? Best exercise equipments? I'm looking for home exercise equipments. It should be good, but not so expensive. please give me an advice.
Working out at home - no gym or equipment? I have no access to a gym and cannot go out and buy any fitness equipment. What exercises can I do at home that don't require any equipment?
What are some exercises that I can incorporate into the day that don't require fitness equipment? I'm looking to slim down within the next 7 months for my sweet 16. Im not big on diets, but it's not like the food I eat already is unhealthy. For example, I don't drink any soda and I don't eat cake or other sweets, but I'm still chubby because I don't exercise...at all. I'm 5'2 and weigh 155 lbs, and I want to lose 10-20 lbs. Any ideas as to what exercises I can do at home minus fitness equipment? Thanks =]
exercise at home???? i normally go to the gym about 3/4 times a week and do at least an hour each time but now i have to cancel my membership bcz of school work and i dont want my fitness level to reduce. i'm buying little exercise equipment at home like the ball, skipping rope, weights, trampette and a mini stepper but what else can i do at home for high impact cardio?
What is the cheapest leg press on the market? Or where can you get inexpensive fitness equipment? I would really like to use a Leg Press, but do not want to join a gym. I am really busy at work and I like to do my exercises at home in my own time. I would ideally like to buy a Leg Press and one that is not vertical, but one with a plate. But most seem to be £600 to £1,000 and I cannot afford that. Any one know where I could get a leg press cheaper please?
How much does it cost to quit Anytime Fitness before your year is up? I really can't afford $40 dollars a month anymore and I have exercise equipment at home (well cardio and some dumbell weights which will be alright until I can afford it again). Does it cost $50 extra to quit? I can't remember.
What fitness equipment and plan would you recommend for this situation? Hi, I'm a Uni student with a plan to spend at least 30mins a day on a home exercise programme (can't afford the gym). I'd like to slim down, build up my upper body muscles and trim/tone my stomach (I'm short 5' 5" if that's relevant); practically full body really. I used to ride a bike extensively for 2 years which built up my legs but its no longer convenient in the city. Ideally I'm looking for fairly inexpensive (<£100 total) equipment and a plan that will help me achieve this. So far I own a set of 15kg dumbells. Any advice including diet would be great, thanks.
What type of exercises can I do at home to tone my upper body without using any gym equipment? I am overweight and nearly forty years old. Not much of a fitness freak, but are willing to do some exercises at home.
what other exercising equipment do i need to get? I am getting P90X Extreme Home Fitness with Tony Horton 13 DVD Beachbody, and i was wondering what other eqiupment (exersising ball, yoga mats, etc) do i need to get?
Upper body workout using only 5kg weights? Hey, I'm 18 years old and looking at building my body up. I have been going regularly to the gym twice a week for 4 months now and being doing odd exercises at home but nothing too organized. Unfortunately I do not have any exercise equipment at home apart from a rowing machine and 5kg weights. Can anyone recommend a structured home fitness regime that i can follow in between gym times. I usually attend the gym on Wednesdays and Saturdays so can anyone recommend best days in between to exercise and what are the best exercises to perform (concentrating on upper body) with the 5kg weights I have. If you have a regime that works for you please can you share, I would really appreciate it! Thanks for any help in advance, Andy
What exercise equipment is better: treadmill, elliptical, or exercise bike? I'm not the most fit of all people but I have been losing weight by watching what I eat and watching my portions; I now need to put some type of physical fitness in my weight lose now; what exercise equipment is better: treadmill, elliptical or exercise bike? I want something that I can use at home; I feel better when I'm doing this type of stuff by myself; I want something that I can use to help me lose weight on butt, hips, stomach, waist and thighs; any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Any fitness instructors/enthusiasts out there? How can I get toned/built at home without using any equipment? I would like to know what I can do to work out at home without the need for any equipment. Already I do 150 push ups (broken down into 5 reps of 30) and 50 pull ups (10 reps of 5 - finger tip pull ups, done on door frame cos I don't have a bar) once every two days. The push ups are getting too easy though so I thought of maybe increasing, perhaps to 4 reps of 50. I cycle at least 20 minutes a day, though not at the moment cos my bikes out of action. I am a bloke, I have a very good, healthy diet, with lots of protein etc. I usually have a cool down day in between, so i alternate between day off and day on. I've avoided doing sit ups because I have problems with my back and any kind of repetitive straining motion causes me quite a lot of discomfort. I would like to know if there are any good exercises for building up my abs, and also if there is anyway to build up my pecks more (they're already quite well toned) at home, and without the need to get some weights. Also please tell me if you think there are any problems with my regime. Anything I should be doing differently in terms of number of reps, and down days etc. Maybe I should be alternating a day doing exercises for my chest/arms/abs. Perhaps there is a certain technique to these exercises which I haven't mastered? Any advice on any of these areas would be hugely appreciated, I'm not trying to look like super man, just want to be able to look after myself. Thanks guys!
At home leg exercises for running? My legs aren't very strong (I can only run for half a mile before they get tired and I have to walk) So what kind of leg exercises can I do at home/outside (since i don't have access to any fitness equipment) to make my legs stronger so I can run further? (any other tips on how I can run longer would be appreciated =)
Fitness exercises? how would u go about getting fit (ripped) with no equipment. i only do body weight exercises (press ups, sit ups etc) and probs won't be able to get membership for a gym or money for home equipment. so, is it possible? could it happen with lots of exercise by say the summer? what sort of diet would i need to be having?
How can I train my pecs at home? I want some really tough pecs. So yea, how can I train them at home? My materials are two 15-pound dumbbells, sorry but my parents aren't fans of the fitness department. How can I train my pecs with them, or just train them with an exercise without equipment? Any sites that will help me? I'm 15, and I'm pretty fit for my age.
Question about working out.? I use this exercise equipment http://www.fit-shop.com/fitness-exercise-equipment/gyms/tuffstuff-apollo-5-home-gym.asp . I am doing different exercizes, just a little bit of everything. I do about 6-7 curls, stop, do about 6-7 lat pull downs, stop, do 4-5 seated mid-rows, stop, do about 7-8 floor mid-rows, stop, then i do some of the arm cross over exercizes with the pully. I do all of these with the most amount of weight i can do and low reps because i want muscle. Now, I just did this exercize a few times yesterday and today I am not sore at all, should I work out again? If im not sore are my muscles still rebuilding?
Where can i buy an exercise bike in tokyo? ? for home http://gymratz.co.uk/discount-cardio-fitness-equipment/usrimage/horizon-focus-308-exercise-bike.jpg
Best fitness equipment? Hi. I am about 40kg's overweight and have 3 little kids. It is extremely hard to exercise, but I am desperate and I am willing to start on whatever I can, but I need something that suits me. I have looked into treadmills and exercise bikes etc but not sure what to do. We run a business from home and it's almost impossible to get any spare time when my hubby is at home to go to the gym or for a walk. When I have some spare time during the day I don't feel like taking 2 small kids for a walk in 40 c heat (which it is here in Australia at the moment). I want something that I can do at home, but not sure what is the best. I have knee and back problems which I know will improve with exercise, but its hard to do it when you're in pain. I also have thyroid issues which I am trying to get under control, but I have very little energy ... which I know will also improve once I get going. Any suggestions. Yoga is easy when you are skinny ... but not so easy when you are as overweight as I am. I am currently on a healthy eating plan, but just need help to figure out what to do about exercise. Thank you.
Need help with health & fitness.? I have a hypothyroid so have gained 20 pounds and need to loose it. The problem is when exercising after 10 minutes I get very itchy and then welts appear. This happens within 10 minutes of strenuous exercise. What do you recommed for exercise? Also should I join a gym or get a recumbant bike or exercise equipment for home? Thank you all for your answers! I went to the doctor and I have to premedicate with Clariton prior to exercising. I have exercise-induced anaphylaxis. I didn't choose a best answer because they were all great!
fitness advice, please??? I don't seem to be seeing any results and aren't really enjoying my workouts... And just wanted to see if anyone can assist... This is my usual fitness week: Tuesday 7-8pm: Mixed discipline marial arts (self defence with high CardioVascular workout) Friday 7-8:30pm: Gym 45mins CV and 45mins Weights and machines (Bike, x-trainer and rowing machine) Sunday 9-10:30am: Gym (as above) The rest of the week I do exercises at home (roughly about 15-30mins): pushups, abs work, free weights, etc (anything that doesn't need exercise equipment or can be done in the home environment)... And I just don't seem to be getting anywhere... No real weight loss or body shape change... Been doing the gym and home stuff for about a year and the martial arts only a couple of months...
I'm looking for a good selection of cardio and strength training exercises I can do at home with no equipment I live in an extremely polluted city in China and therefore need to exercise indoors. Int he past I've always trained as a distance runner, but running outdoors here is just not that wise due to pollution and traffic concerns, so I would like to develop a fitness routine I can do indoors when I can't make it to the gym. I would ideally like to combine strength training and cardio and use no or minimal equipment. Also since I'm not running much anymore I'd prefer to build some bulk rather than stay lean like I usually am. Tall order I know but any routine suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cheers
Statistics question, HELP needed urgently, can anyone please reply as soon as possible thank you ? There are four sales representatives in the home gym department of the Fitness Factory exercise equipment store. The number of home gyms each has sold in the past two weeks can be seen below in Table 1. For the following questions assume that sample sizes are 2. The marking allows the use of the finite population correction factor, and will provide appropriate feedback if the student did make use of it. what exercises can be done at home to improve your upper/lower-body shape? I do not have any dumbbells or any other fitness equipments since i always travel. Thank you for your help
Mommies, plz help me out with a post-partum fitness question? ? Hi! Ok, so I asked a question in Diet and Fitness about what piece of exercise equipment is "best" for losing that pregnancy weight. So far I haven't gotten any good answers. So I'm asking you mommies for advice on losing the pregnancy weight after you give birth. I'm interested in something that burns more calories, but at a good price. I can't join a gym because of time and money issues. My husband works long hours and I can't consistently get a baby-sitter for a newborn and a 1-year-old allowing me to go jogging etc., so I think the best thing is to invest in one piece of exercise equipment (all I can afford, lol). At least for the time being. I'm thinking of either an ellipitical of a treadmill. Which would you recommend? Or, do you have any other tips? PS I'm not open to going jogging/walking with my two babies, at least not consistently. I tried with my first baby I've never exercised before consistently, so doing it in my home what I want to try to commit to this time.
Exercises to do at home to lose weight? im trying to lose weight but have no equipment just a fitness dvd what are some exercises i can do at home to lose weight
Are there any truly free exercise websites? Does anyone know of any websites where you can get a fitness workout that won't cost anything to join? In particular, I'm looking for a website that will list exercises (low impact) that you can do at home with no special equipment.

Exercise tips!! Help me out please.? My dad's military retirement is coming up soon and I want to look good in this dress I just bought. I would like to loose at least 15 pounds so I can slim down a few sizes and loose a little bit of my lumpy bumpy's. I don't really have any equipment and I'm on a tight budget for the next few months, so I can't go out and buy much of anything - nor can I afford to shell out for online diet and fitness programs provided by trainers online and around my community. The only exercise equipment that I DO have is a lateral thigh trainer (cross stepper), and blue resistance tubing. I'm slightly embarrassed and insecure to work out infront of others (except my husband), so can anyone come up with some GOOD exercises that I could do at home on the lateral trainer and without equipment to get rid of my flabby pooch I've gained over the past year all the while toning my abs, and also my arms and my inner thighs. [ please, no harsh words or immature responses ] Okay......I have no idea who Denise Austin is....but I'll definately have to look for the DVD's. Thanks! I live in a military commuinty (AF Wife right here) living overseas...and the only TV that we get is AFN. Sometimes they do show exercise programs, but they're always at 4 or 5 am. No luck there.
i would like to ask what kind of exercises i can do at home, without needing equipments and can be fun.? i usually feel quite guilty if i do not exercise. especially on weekends(saturdays) when i tell myself i would go out to run at 5pm but never get down to do it, so i end up only doing it once per weekend or never at all. i like to tell myself that i would let myself rest for a day or two, but i always feel guilty about it, and would feel very uncomfortable with my body. here is my schedule as follows, with what activity i do each week: mondays: 6-7.30 i have physical training for my sports activity, which consists of running, doing chin-ups, sometimes circuit training or core training tuesdays: usually i am unmotivated to do any running or exercise. but occasionally i would do some running(when i am motivated to train for something) wednesdays: i usually have no time to do anything thursdays: i have got my canoe polo training from 2 to 5 pm fridays: i have badminton training from 3 to about 4.30 pm then here comes the weekends and i feel guilty for not going out to run. i have a feeling that i run because i want to lose weight and look good, but that is rather unmotivating as i do not see the results. i feel that i should have a more meaningful reason such as, trying to clock a faster timing, challenge my limits, and keep fit, right? could anybody share their experiences and thoughts about exercising? how should i motivate myself? and most importantly, what kind of exercises can i do at home, without needing any equipments and can be fun whilst doing? i would like to do some exercises at home so that i can maintain my fitness and feel more relaxed. i hope to cut down about 8kg, in how many months do you think i can achieve that? thank you for your answer, parsnipsalad. however, i think that as i am with my family and all that it would not seem appropriate for me to do belly dancing? it seems so in my family context, i am not kidding. so sorry, are there any other suggestions? by the way, i am 16 and i don't think i would want to follow any types of diet.
Can someone please advise me if Cross Trainer exercise machines give a good all over toning effect ? I want to buy a machine to use at home for gentle but effective all over toning. What is the best machine? I don't want to buy lots of different equipment, I would just like one alround machine. I don't want to look to muscular but just keep in shape. I'm not really into fitness in a big way but like to keep looking good!!!!!! Thanks for your help.
What is a good idea for a home gym? I do not have a lot of space to store exercise equipment but I would love to be able to have a full body workout inside of my home. So far, I have an an iron gym, stability ball, some 5 pound weights, a neighborhood to run in and a full size trampoline in my yard. What are some cheap and small machines and equipment that I could store in my bedroom? I don't know if this matters but my fitness level is advanced. Thanks for all of your help! Oh I forgot I also have a yoga mat and a resistance band. I also have a shake weight.
What are some excerises that I can do at home? I don't have much equipment, but I have started to run a few miles a day and I have two 15 pound dumbbells and a fitness ball. What are some exercises that I can start to do with these things and without them? Also, are there any good websites I can go to for advice and other ideas?
I got in a car accident a month ago, and get tired easily because of it...now I'm out of shape. Exercise help? At the end of June, I was in a car crash. I've been getting a lot better since, but, I find that I still get tired very easily doing physical activity. It's been getting better, but, as a result of my lessened physical activity, I have been getting noticeably out of shape. As expected, I no longer have the muscle definition and strength I had before. I'd like to do some things, but working out still causes some pain. I can do curls and some such weightlifting alright, but I cannot do things like situps and pushups, and have trouble with a few stretches. I used to have pretty defined abs, now I look to have a small gut. I have a healthy diet and watch what and how much I eat, as well, so, it shouldn't be much of a factor. About 2 years ago, I lost a lot of weight, so, maintaining my physical fitness has been important to me. Situps and such were a big part of that because I could do them home in my room at any time, without going to a gym to use their weights. I have some freeweights at home, as well. Anyhow, my goal for the summer was to gain 10 pounds of muscle, but due to my accident I have since lost 8 pounds, probably of...well, muscle. I'd like to do what I can in the remaining 5 weeks of summer, but, at this rate, besides doing what little lifting I can at the gym, I don't know how. So, it's not a big deal, I can put up with just not going to the gym and such, but, my new summer goal is to at least get somewhat toned again, and hopefully that may speed up my recovery as well (I have basically no endurance running and riding a bike - a 30 minute bike ride will have me tired for hours, now). What're some practical replacement exercises for situps and pushups that I can do at home, without equipment?
fitness advise!!!!!? I need a good at home exercise routine. i don't have any equipment! i want to work on losing belly fat and just slimming down everything else a bit. can anyone give me a good routine that actually works?thanks :)
Going from Gym to at home Exercises, anyone done this? Hello, I've had a Bally Total Fitness membership for some time now. In the new year, I won't be paying for it anymore because I can't afford it. I'm going to start working out at home, and hopefully I'll be able to get my own equipment. But until then, I'll be doing the old fashion push-ups and sit-ups. Do you think my build will suffer because of this? Are there any special tips that you can lead me to on the net or any suggestions for my morning work out at home that can help me keep the physique that I have now? I'm not even trying to be really big. I just want to keep my abs and pecks in shape until I can get my gym equipment for my own home.
figure fitness / female body building? i want to start to build muscle to be a figure fitness competitor, i dont want to be a be a female body builder, i dont want to be that big that i scare ppl, but i want to be more than just toned. im aspiring for a figure similar to jaime koeppe. im 23 and currently 160lbs ( a few more lbs of fat to lose) and 5'4, jaime is about 5'5 . my questions are, what are the best exercises to do? i have a home gym similar to the total gym, the biggest loser dvds, free weights, jump rope, body ball and pilates mat and dvds and various other home equipment. also what are the best foods to eat for building muscle on a woman? how much time a day should i spend working out?
Fitness and Diet question? I'm 16 years old (boy) and I want to spend some time working on making some muscles and a nice body. I wanted to ask what would be some exercises I can do at home, equipment I can buy (weights etc) and what I should eat? I'm looking mainly for building the muscles on my arms, chest, and abdomen. Also, I'm hearing that there is a limit in the weights I should lift for my age. Having had tae-kwon-do classes until last year I am in a pretty good shape, but I lost my elasticity and strength, and want to rebuild it. Notice that proposing that I should take things like proteins or other supplements without the traditional way of eating them, will just result in a thumbs down.
What exercise shall i do tomorrow? Tomorrow i have a full day of nothingness, so i want to exercise (i love exercise). It's supposed to rain, so i can't go for a run or cycling. I don't want to go to the gym, because i'm going on monday and the swimming pool is only open until 12pm. I don't want to do just sit ups, push ups etc. i want to go cycling, but not if it's raining. I don't have any equipment at home and there aren't any fitness classes on tomorrow. Any ideas? List as many as you can think of please.
Can I still Eat my normal foods, but do exercise and still lose weight and trim stomach...? I need to trim off a lil stomach and love hundles (lol) but I don't wanna go on a major diet, cuz face it... all diets do is starve you , and then once you are off, you eat everything you couldn't eat while you were on it. But, if I eat say...Special K for breakfast, Salads w/ Chicken Breast Chunks, and a Side salad w/ a small main dish for dinner, and cut out on all fatty snacks will this be good? Also, I can cut out all sugar beverages, and just drink water...atleast 8 glasses a day. And, then do simple exercises I have at home... I have this equipment... (yeah, it's silly stuff, but i don't buy eqipment!) http://www.karatedepot.com/sites/karatedepot/images/items/large/st-wb-10.jpg http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B000WC38CS/ref=dp_image_z_0?ie=UTF8&n=130&s=dvd I plan on doing the twist board for 30 min. a day, the walk for probably atleast 30 min. + 100 sit ups plus this 6 week fitness program that came with the latest issue of "Seventeen". What do you think? Do I need to add vitamins in the mix? Is this enough exercise or do I need more? Thanks
Need a Fitness Program? Hi All Fitness Gurus, I need some help designing a workout program to help me achieve my objective of losing some weight (30 t0 40 pounds) and increase my strength and endurance. I’m a 36 yrs old male, 5’ 10" and 205 pounds. I had some problems with back and hip spasms few years back. I’m better now but I still try to be more careful with my back. Due to time constraints, I would like to workout at home. I’m on a simple low fat diet. I have the following exercise equipments to work with: Air Rowing Machine Weight Bench with a butterfly and leg attachments. Recumbent Bike Treadmill For the gurus out there, please give me a detailed program to help me with my objective. I can dedicate 1-2 hours in the evening daily to the workout if need be. Please take into consideration my semi bad back. Also, please give detailed instructions as I’m new to this. Thank you in advance. John.
Suggest specific non-equipment exercises? I'm a young teenager, and I'm not overweight, but would like to increase my fitness and reduce some overall body fat. Currently I try to get some physical activity in every day, and when I can't I use our treadmill (10 minutes running on incline, 5 minutes jogging without incline and 30 minutes walking on incline). At school I play netball and basketball 2-3 times a week, but I'd still like to know if there are any strengthening exercises I can do at home by myself that will increase my fitness and strengthen my core. I know a few yoga moves, and sometimes do push-ups and jumping jacks, but is there anything (not too hardcore) that I could do? Oh, and by 'some physical activity every day' I mean I go swimming at the beach or roller-skating with friends. Is there anything else that I can do with friends that's fun? Like what I suggested above.
Any good exercises to do at home? I'm not that physically fit, I want to change my metabolic rate and improve my fitness. I already follow a fairly healthy diet. I need to know if there are any exercises for core and lower body I can do at home without specialist equipment. I'm not very fit- I can usually get up to about 35 ab crunches in one go in the evenings, usually when I'm quite tired. 5 minutes later I can do another 15, and I keep going like that until I run out of energy and just fall asleep. Also, how long does it take to see results? I've been trying to do crunches every night for three days (fell asleep in the middle of it last night, my abs were quote sore all day and it wore me out) and i've lost about 2lb. I walk to school every day, about 1.5 - 2 miles. Suggestions and stuff would be appreciated. :D
Getting Fit AT HOME?? Help!(:? I want to get toned/fit and lose some weight (10 to 15 pounds). I want to do this AT HOME, is that possible? I have 5, 10 and 15 pound weights and an exercise ball but no REAL equipment. What exercises, reps, etc. would you recommend? I need help! I will be going to a pilates/yoga class twice a week, and a dance/fitness class once a week. Btw: I already eat healthy ie. fruits, vegetables, salads, NO soda, etc. Thanks!
I'm 20 years old and 11 stone, i want to lose weight, going to the gym later, how long on the cross trainer? How long should I do on the cross trainer? I love the cross trainer and normally do it for about 10 mins twice, then jogging for 5 on the treadmill. I go on the bikes for 5 mins to warm up and 5 mins after to warm down after a session so that I don't get so many aches and pains over the next few days. There's not much else in the gym I got to at the moment but I'm joining another gym soon aver the road from where I work, to go in my lunch hour so are there any other exercises that you could recommend. Also, I have this body glide thing at home, which is like a bike but gives the same sort of work out as a rowing machine, how long should i spend on there each day? Any other exercises or fitness equipment you could recommend? I want to lose at least half a stone by September, but all in all i want to lose a total of 2 stone to get to my ideal weight as I am 5'3"
If you saw your neighbor jumping rope in the laundry room around 5 a.m. in the morning, what would you think? I can't afford a gym membership or fitness equipment right now. I also live above an elderly woman, who is very noise conscious, so exercise tapes for cardio is out of the question. Thus, I plan to jump rump for my cardio each morning, and train with free weights at home. Winter is coming, so I can't jump outside, nor would I want to be that visible anyway. So I'm planning to jump rope in the building laundry room early in the morning before most people wake up. The floor is concrete, and it's very large, spacious, and well lit. I'm sure someone may walk in on me at least once before the year is over, though it's unlikely at the crack of dawn(around 5 a.m.). What would you think if you found out your ADULT neighbor was jumping rope in the laundry room before the birds woke up? LOL There are also windows and a waiting area in the laundry room, so it's not isolated and dark like most basement laundry areas. I'm also carrying extra weight, so I'm sure it will be a sight to see. :)
I'm looking for a good selection of cardio and strength training exercises I can do at home with no equipment I live in an extremely polluted city in China and therefore need to exercise indoors. In the past I've always trained as a distance runner, but running outdoors here is just not that wise due to pollution and traffic concerns, so I would like to develop a fitness routine I can do indoors when I can't make it to the gym. I would ideally like to combine strength training and cardio and use no or minimal equipment. Also since I'm not running much anymore I'd prefer to build some bulk rather than stay lean like I usually am. Tall order I know but any routine suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cheers
Selecting a Fitness Facility? 1. It is not possible to get a good workout at home. True False 2. Most home equipment is expensive. True False 3. A treadmill is a good choice of home equipment for a person who wants to improve their cardiovascular fitness. True False 4. Something as simple as an exercise ball can provide a well rounded workout. True False 5. An advantage of a home gym is that you can exercise on your own schedule. True False 6. It is unnecessary to work out at a fitness facility when you can purchase a set of weights to use at home. True False 7. Many people prefer working out at a gym, and find that they can achieve their fitness goals more easily than working out at home. True False 8. When you are considering membership at a gym you should make sure that the background music is at a comfortable level suitable to your taste. True False 9. It is unacceptable to walk around to check out the cleanliness of a fitness facility before you join. True False 10. When you are considering a gym membership you should make sure that the person at the front desk is courteous and friendly. True False
Anyone got a few tips about general fitness and elasticity for a lazy 17 yr old :)? Hey everyone, I'm 17 but probably have the body of a 71 year ^^. Generally i'm quite lazy and although not obese, i am putting on weight. Anyway I decided i needed to get myself in gear before this became a bad habit. Therefore i'm going to get some sort of 'work out' timetable prepared and follow that. However just wondering if anyone had any tips. Such as, good exercises to do (intend to do this at home and don't have a workout station as such. However have all the little exercise equipment; weights etc). I want to focus a lot on builiding up strength around the body. Furthermore im terribly unelastic and was wondering if there are particular stretches i could do (maybe before exercise) to help that. I realize getting results will take a very long time; just if anyone has useful tips to get me started :) Will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. RRJ
Working out at home? I'm joining a gym, but I would like to do some toning on the days I'm not there to boost my weight loss. The only fitness equipment I have is an abs rocker, light dumbells, and a medium resistance band. Can anyone suggest good exercises to do that will show fast results? Thanks :) xxx
I need a good and healthy work-out schedule? FOR FITNESS EXPERTS ONLY! ======================== Hi, I'm a 16 year old boy, currently weighing 126 lbs, and am 5'6 of height. I know that I'm small for my age, and I need a good exercise routine to help build myself up. Please do not give me a site, cause I don't think they help much. Also I'll tell you the current equipment I have in my "home gym". Equipment -------------- 1. 180 lbs boxing bag 2. Over 250 lbs of dumbbells (5's , 10's) 3. A bar 4. Big medicine ball 5. I'm a pretty good runner ---------- Alright, so with that being said, you know know a little more about me. What I'm really asking you is to give a good and helathy work out schedule based on my age, weight, height and the equipment I have. Also tell the reps and sets pease. I WOULD REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF YOU CAN HELP ME OUT. Thanks =)
fat chick looking for some help? Okay so Here are my specs I am 19years old, 5ft 6inch Female and I roughly weigh about 180lbs. (i don't own a scale but when i had a physical last I was 180 and my eating habits have not changed since then. it was about 2 months ago.) I would like to try and get into shape by going into a diet. The type of diet program I'm looking for isn't like weight watchers or anything. Before, I began a food journal and wrote in it everyday of what I ate and any activities I did that would be considered exercise. I mostly ate salads and had a low carb diet. I was wondering though, what type of diet should I restart with ? I don't want to take out carbs all together because its unhealthy and I don't eat red meat if at all. Secondly, I would like to lose weight by exercising. I have never been to a gym before and the fitness equipment seem really foreign to me. So I was hoping if there is a good fitness video that seems effective so I can do it at home? Also, what are some healthy exercising at home activities can I do? I would not like to spot train any areas cause I just need the help all over. I'm willing to buy work out equipment except a treadmill, there is no room in my house for it haha.... Can diet pills also be healthy to induce faster weight loss? Which types work the best? last of all, what would be the healthy weight I should reach my goal to? I heard that 140 is healthy for my age and height. Are there any online sites for free that you can use to track your exercise and weight?
trying to make a workout plan? I wanted to start a regular workout routine that i could do at home with basic equipment like treadmills, fitness balls, ab lounge, etc. What is the recommended amount of time for cardio workouts? The goal is mostly weight loss (no more than 10 to 15 pounds) and body firming... not really any lifting or muscle building. What I'm basically asking for is a schedule: for example, warming up, then the exercise itself, the cool down, etc. Any recommendations on how many days and how long to do it?
Mixed-Martial-Arts and Home-Workout? About myself: I am a 15 year old boy who weighs 60kg, stands about 170cm (just a guess) and has a small build with some tone but very little strength for my age. Goals: I want to; 1) Learn Muay Thai Kickboxing or MMA for; self defence, fitness, etc. (which ever one is better.) 2) Improve/gain; strength, tone, muscle mass, weight, fitness, etc. The story: I have just recently started Mixed Martial Arts on Tuesdays and Thursdays to see if I like it. These lessons consist of mainly cardio, core strength, body conditioning, and self weight exercises such as push-ups, squats, etc. Options: 1) I can go to the local gym for $30 a month with unlimited access to all gym equipment from 3:30pm - 5:30pm (great for building muscle tone, strength etc.) 2) I have the choice of going to Boxing on the following days (depending on how I'm feeling): Monday, Wednesday, Thursday for $6 a lesson after a $50 yearly membership fee is paid. (great for fitness [mainly cardio and self weight exercises such as push ups etc.]) 3) Mixed Martial Arts or Muay Thai Kickboxing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at this place (20 minute drive from where I live) http://www.gladstonemartialarts.com.au 4) Workout at home with one of these workout plans http://www.scoobysworkshop.com/ 5) Do a small workout plan I have made up on Mondays, Wednesday and Friday to help build muscle strength, fitness, etc. (I have just chosen a few exercises from the above website, added exercises I know, and included equipment I own such as 'The Perfect Push up,' speed ball, heavy bag, skipping rope, etc.) 6) Do 2 of the above options (please list which ones) Overall Question: In your opinion, what do you think would be the best/most efficient/quickest way for me to achieve those goals by following those options? (My opinion is to do both MMA on Tuesdays and Thursdays and my home workout plan on Monday, Wednesday and Friday) --Thanks heaps in advance-- Please no stupid answers like 'do what you think is right' (I don't know what's right that's why I'm asking.)
Help with a fitness routine? I need a fitness routine for an beginner, i am a healthy 24yr old female and have no health problems that would hinder me from exercising. I recently brought a home gym so would love to know how many reps of each for a beginner and exersises to do, i also have a exercise bike and one of those big boucey balls, but not sure how to use it. I don't want all of this equipment sitting there, i really want to start using it but if i had a good weekly routine to follow i know i would use it everyday.
Guy Fitness question? I'm 14 year old GUY, 5'8, and 160 pounds. I really want to lose weight fast. The weird thing is that the only fat part of my body is my stomach. My chest is basically flat, and then my stomach just sticks out, like i have a big beer belly. The problem is that where i live, it's snowy icy and always below 0 degrees celsius. How can i lose weight fast at home? I have a set of 12 pound dumbells that i can curl about 6-8 times. Dumbbells exercises will be appreciated greatly, as well as exercises that i can do at home using no equipment.I want to lose weight fast, please help. HOW CAN I LOSE WEIGHT FAST AT HOME? DON'T ANSWER THAT I SHOULD TAKE PILLS OR USE BODY CLEANERS PLEASE.
I want a body like a high-school Football player!!! How do i get it? I'm 19 yrs old, I work days and just started doing push-up's sit-up's, and up and down at home. I don't any access to a gym or a fitness center, nor do i have the time. My body is shaped like a forty-yr old man from the lack of previous exercise. I recently gave up junk and fast food. Instead of not eating at all, I have limited my meal to smaller portions. Trust me I'm to young to be looking like this, I need something that i can do right at home with little or no extra equipment.

Bad knee, any idea for home therapy? About 2 years ago I hyperextended my ACL. I didn't have any insurance so I purchased a low grade knee brace and grit my teeth through the pain. It healed up to a managable pain after 6 months. Then another 6 months I slowly weened myself off the brace and I haven't had any problems until about 4-5 months ago. Now it's starting to bother me again, at least a lot more than usual. The problem is unlike the other injuries I sustained as a kid I don't have the option of going to a fitness center. The one here isn't properly maintained, last time i blew out my shoulder and couldn't use it for a day because they didn't lubricate their equipment. Do you know of any exercises I can do at home to strengthen up my knee and get it to heal faster?
What is the best way to burn fat away? As the title says, I'm interested in losing fat, not weight particularly (although that will most likely drop as well). I want to come up with a good routine to burn fat but I find it hard to do with a busy schedule. I'm at University so I don't get much time to focus on exercise, sometimes I don't have time for breakfast. I don't usually choose what I eat, it's more about what my parents decide they want to cook and I don't like making them cook something completely separate. This makes dieting a bit hard and while at Uni, it is hard to find food that suits a particular diet. Due to spending most of my time doing coursework or at Uni, I don't have time to exercise. I usually get home, have a quick shower, go to work, get home and have another shower then either finish coursework or sleep. I'm not a big fan of supplements as they are usually false and don't work, or so I have heard. Is there a sure fire way to help burn fat, preferably quickly, when you have a busy schedule? I can try to fit exercises in to the day, but I'd need to know what exercises I need to do. I have no fitness equipment and most likely can't go to a gym. Any help would be appreciated.
Anyone have good fitness advice for a beginner? Ok, well, I am about 50 - 60 lbs overweight, and desperately want to lose weight. I am 5' 8", and weigh 240. (I know... its disgusting!) I was thinking about going on the Special K Diet Challenge, and seeing if that would show any results in say a month or so of starting it. I was also wondering if any can give me some advice to start exercising, and getting more active. Right now, I sit in my room all day and play video games. That's basically it. I have no motivation to do any physical activities, but if I get onto a specific plan, than I would be able to stick to it. I do not have a gym membership, don't drive, so any exercising would need to be done at home without special equipment. Thanks guys, all input is appreciated!
